Welcome, friends!  Writing here has become a real treat for me.  I enjoy the process and I cherish the comments you leave.  What fun to share my thoughts and create a forum for the sharing of ideas and humor. 

"He's Dead, Jim!" is, indeed, a reference to Star Trek.  Doctor McCoy would say this after each red-shirted casualty was discovered.  I use it since I am, after all, a doctor.  However, it fits in this forum because it is a plain expository statement.  I hope to create essays here that evoke thought and incite debate by making observations about my life.
